Haley, our Retail Manager and head of Purchasing has been with McCutcheon Music since 2003. She holds a Bachelors of Music Performance degree from Wright State University. Haley also teaches clarinet at McCutcheon Music and performs regularly with many groups including Sinclair Community College Wind Symphony, Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra, Wright State University Symphony Orchestra, Kettering Praise Orchestra and Kettering Civic Band. One of the aspects that Haley enjoys most about working at McCutcheon Music is the fact that she is able to bring all things music to people of all ages and backgrounds. When she is not working or playing clarinet Haley stays busy with her two sons Tony and Joseph.
Joe Hesseman serves as one of our School Representatives. Mr. Hesseman is a graduate from the U.S. Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia and received his Bachelors of Music Education Degree from Wright State University–where he was a music scholarship recipient and a concerto competition winner. He was also a founding (original) member of the Wright State University Chamber Orchestra. In 2006, he had the honor of being recognized as one of Wright State University’s outstanding performing music alumni. A former general music teacher at St. Theresa Local School in Springfield, Ohio, Mr. Hesseman currently serves as a music instructor in the Centerville, Ohio School District and as Adjunct Instructor of Bassoon at Wittenberg University; a position he has held since 1997. We are very pleased to have such an experienced musician and educator on our staff to represent us in area schools and support their music programs.
John Harner joined our staff in 2016 as one of our School Representatives. John is a freelance trumpet player, music educator, clinician, and conductor that performs at clinics and concerts throughout the United States. For 25 years John was a music teacher in the Xenia Community Schools, and for 4 years at Dayton Christian Schools where he conducted High School Concert and Symphonic Bands, Middle School Bands and Choirs, the Marching Band, and Jazz Bands. He is the Orchestra Director at Patterson Park Church Beavercreek, and Artistic Director of the Dayton Jazz Orchestra.
Matt, a local from Kettering, has been with McCutcheon Music since 2013 as a Sales Associate, and recently School Representative as well. He loves being able to help new students find their musical companions. Matt holds a Bachelors of Music Performance from Wright State University, has played in countless ensembles, and teaches clarinet here at McCutcheon Music. In his spare time Matt enjoys playing ping pong and is currently learning to play piano.
Adam joined our sales staff in the spring of 2018. Music has played a large role in Adam’s life since he started playing at church when he was nine years old. Since then he has been in several indie rock bands, currently he plays bass and sings with the band 80k. Adam says that working at McCutcheon Music has expanded his view on what music is, and feels like he learns something new everyday that is exciting and continues to inspire his love for music. Aside from music, Adam enjoys gardening with his wife, Brooke, and spending time with his dog, Walter and cat named Bruce.
Vinnie joined our sales staff in early 2018. Vinnie started playing bass when he was just ten years old. His talents earned him a music scholarship that carried him through college. Once he graduated college, Vinnie joined the United States Air Force Band, which gave him the opportunity to travel around the world doing what he loved – playing music. After 24 years of service in the Air Force Band, he retired, and now enjoys playing music wherever and whenever he can. Vinnie likes the familial environment of McCutcheon Music, and enjoys helping people who love music as much as he does. When he is not working, Vinnie enjoys drinking and learning about gourmet coffee, as well as spending time with his daughter, Justice and his fiancé, Chrissie.
Chris joined our staff in 2016 as a Sales Associate, and became our Assistant Manager in 2018. After living in Florida for several years Chris is back in Ohio. Music is an intricate part of Chris’ life. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies, with a focus on percussion from Central State. Chris enjoys working at McCutcheon Music because it gives him an opportunity to share his love of music with people of all musical levels. When Chris isn’t listening, or playing music he enjoys writing, photography, and indulging in various forms of science fiction.
David has been working McCutcheon Music’s studios since 2013. A native of Miami County, David earned a Bachelor of Music Business degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. David plays tuba, electric and upright bass, piano, and guitar. In his spare time he enjoys music composition, arranging and orchestration, and spending time with his wife Emily, and his large extended family. What David values most about working at McCutcheon Music is sharing quality music education with students who are young children all the way to students in their 90’s.
Rachel, originally from New Jersey, has been part of the McCutcheon Music team since 2009 as a Studio Coordinator. Over the years Rachel has played several instruments including violin, cello, and piano. When she is not working Rachel enjoys baking, hiking, reading, and traveling to Hawaii where her son is currently stationed with the U.S. Navy. Rachel likes all of the fun and quirky people she gets to meet while working at McCutcheon Music.
Doug joined the McCutcheon Music team in 2017 as a Studio Coordinator. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Wright State University. Doug has been a singer, songwriter, and guitarist for over 50 years, and has even recorded a LP of his original music. He enjoys working at McCutcheon Music because it gives him an opportunity to be surrounded by talented musicians and students. In his spare time Doug likes traveling with his wife, Gabriele, playing in a classic rock band, and riding horses with his friends.
Tim joined the team at McCutcheon Music in 2010 as the Office and Accounting Manager. Although Tim is not a musician himself, he relishes the time he spends in the audience as a music appreciator – especially jazz piano. He has a wide variety of interests including investing, personal fitness, and driving his Miata. What Tim likes most about working at McCutcheon Music is the fact that each day he does something different – one day he may be working in the office, the next he could be working on maintaining one of our 19+ studios.
Emily was brought onto the team at McCutcheon Music in 2015 as their Web Developer and to help out with marketing. Emily, who grew up in Central New York, received a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee. When Emily is not working she likes to craft, listen to music, binge watch t.v. shows with her husband David, and is a voracious reader of articles relating to technology, marketing, and business. Emily is thrilled to work at McCutcheon Music because it allows her to learn new skills, be creative, and promote quality individualize educational programs every time she comes to work.
Eva joined the staff at McCutcheon Music in 2015 first as a Studio Coordinator and now works in the office in Inventory Management. As a fifth grader she took up clarinet and to this day continues to take lessons. Eva has also played and taught violin. Apart from music Eva enjoys taking long walks, reading and playing Scrabble with her husband Jon, daughter Emma, and son Lucas. The chief reason Eva enjoys her job at McCutcheon Music so much is the people – staff, teachers, and especially the students.
Robyn has been McCutcheon Music’s Rental Coordinator since 2017. She enjoys interacting with customers, and loves working in a musical atmosphere. Having published her first song at the age of 15, Robyn has been singing, playing, and writing music for decades. While living in New Orleans Robyn was nominated at the Louisiana Music Awards for “Best New Songwriter of the Year”. After hurricane Katrina, Robyn moved back to her hometown of Dayton, OH. When she’s not working Robyn is playing music around town, restoring old photos, or keeping in touch with her daughter, Shannon and grandsons, Hunter and Tyler.
