McCutcheon Music is pleased to welcome Greg Chako to our guitar teaching staff!
Greg Chako has been playing and teaching guitar around the world for the past four decades. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Greg has been playing guitar since he was 10 years old. After attending the renowned Berklee College of Music, Greg played guitar in clubs and restaurants throughout the Northeast for several years. In 1992 Greg relocated to Hong Kong and quickly became a sought after jazz performer, and eventually a professional talent manager and band leader as well. Live performances paved the way for Greg to record several albums that include both jazz standards and original compositions. Having spent nearly two decades living and playing music throughout abroad, Greg returned to the United States to further his education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Empire State College, a Master of Music degree with a special focus on arranging from William Paterson University, and has nearly completed a Doctorate of Music Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Aside from teaching, Greg maintains an active performing schedule and is working on his eleventh album.
