Dr. Julie Baker D.M.A., flute
Flutist Julie Baker is an active performer and instructor in the Greater Cincinnati area. Dr. Baker holds the position of Adjunct Instructor of Flute at Mount St. Joseph University as well as teaching at the Music Academy at the Mount. In addition to teaching, Dr. Baker has performed with numerous ensembles in the region including Cincinnati Chamber Opera, Queen City Chamber Opera, Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony, Richmond Symphony Orchestra and School House Symphony.  A recent graduate of the the University of Cincinnati, College Conseratory of Music, Dr. Baker also completed a Masters degree at the same institution.  A native of Texas, Dr. Baker attended the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Bachelor of Music in Applied Flute and studied with Marianne Gedigian.

Scott Gasaway, saxophone

Scott Gasaway holds a degree in Music Education from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA where he studied under Dino Govoni and Shannon LeClaire. Scott has shared the stage with many accomplished artists including Gary Smulyan, Rob Parton, Rick VanMatre, Greg Abate, Oscar Stagnaro, and Victor Mendoza. After spending time teaching in Massachusetts, Scott returned to his home city of Dayton, Ohio where he now serves as the Band Director at Stivers School for the Arts. Under his direction, the bands have earned Superior ratings at the Ohio Music Education Association adjudicated events and the Jazz Orchestra has opened for Smokey Robinson in addition to earning considerable competitive recognition. In addition to teaching, Scott performs with several groups in the area.

With a B.S.in Music Education, and Master of Music in Flute Performance degrees from CCM, Nancy has been teaching flute for many years. She performs with the Dayton Area Harp Ensemble, Sinclair Community College Wind Symphony, Dayton Playhouse, and Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra.




hessemanwebJoe Hesseman, bassoon
Joe has over 30 years of experience performing in professional orchestras and bands. Some of his professional credits include performances with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Dayton Ballet Orchestra, Dayton Bach Society, Middletown Symphony, Whitewater Opera Company, Dayton Philharmonic Concert Band, Springfield Concert Band and 31 years as bassoonist with the Springfield Symphony (OH) Orchestra. No stranger to chamber music, Mr. Hesseman has performed with the Wright State University Faculty Woodwind Quintet and Trio, Wittenberg University Faculty Ensembles, Springfield Symphony Woodwind Quintet and Festive Musique–a contemporary flute and harp duo. He also has professional credits with numerous jazz, country and pop artists.


Connie Ignatiou, oboe
Connie Ignatiou is currently the 2nd oboist for the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and is also pursuing her Doctoral of Musical Arts degree from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music where she studies under Dr. Mark Ostoich. Her Master’s degree was received from University of North Carolina at Greensboro, studying under Dr. Mary Ashley Barret, and her Bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University, studying under Mr. Joseph Martin.
Connie keeps an active playing career, performing with such groups as the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Muncie Symphony, Richmond Symphony (IN), and Kentucky Symphony. Woodwinds - Haley KendallHaley Kendall, clarinet

Haley earned her Bachelor of Music Performance degree in Clarinet, with an emphasis on pedagogy, from Wright State University in 2000. She has been teaching clarinet in the Dayton area for over 15 years and performs regularly with many groups including Sinclair Community College Wind Symphony, Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra, Wright State University Symphony Orchestra, Kettering Praise Orchestra and Kettering Civic Band. Haley has worked at McCutcheon Music for many years and has often been a featured performer at McCutcheon Music recitals in the Renaissance Auditorium of the Dayton Art Institute. Woodwinds - HalHal Melia, saxophone, flute, and clarinet

With years of both private studio teaching and college teaching, Hal is one of the premier jazz experts in the region. With an energetic approach to music-making, we are so pleased to have him on our staff.

Hal is a Conn Selmer artist and a Keilwerth artist.

Matt Snyder received his Bachelor of Music Performance from Wright State University. Matt’s most memorable experiences in college include membership of the WSU Wind Symphony Leadership Council, serving as principal clarinet of the College Band Directors National Association, earning the Clark Haines “Most Outstanding Musician” award in the WSU Wind Symphony, receiving “Honorable Mention” in the Music Teachers National Association competition, and earning first place in WSU’s Honors Recital.
